所以， 我们不可再彼此评论；应该立下决心，不做任何使弟兄失足的事。我凭着跟主耶稣的密切关系确实知道，食物本身都是洁净的；如果有人以为它不洁净，那么，对这个人来说，它就是不洁净的了。如果你因为食物伤了弟兄的心，你所做的就不是出于爱心。不可因为你的食物毁了一个基督已经为他死的人！不可使你所认为好的事得了坏名。因为上帝的主权不在于饮食，而在于圣灵所赐的公正，和平，喜乐。这样事奉基督的人必定得到上帝的喜欢和人的赞许。
所以，我们要追求那促进和睦，建立上帝的家的事。不要因为食物而破坏上帝的工作。一切事物都可以吃，但如果你所吃的使别人失足，那就不对了。所以，最好不吃肉，不喝酒，不做任何使你弟兄失足的事。你对这问题怎样相信，是你跟上帝之间的事。一个人能够在自己所认为对的事上不自贬自责是多么有福啊！可是，如果他对所吃的食物心怀疑惑，那么，他吃的时候，上帝要定他的罪，因为他不凭着信心吃。任何不凭着信心而做的事都是罪。
Let us not therefore judge one another anymore: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meet, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meet, for whom Christ died. Let not then your good be evil spoken of: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drinking; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. ( Holy Spirit ) For he that in these serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth ( Blessed is he who does not judge himself in what he approves; ) And he that doubteth is damnned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin
